Holley Carburetors, Manifolds & Fuel Injection This book is an absolute must if you plan on rebuilding or modifying a Holley carb. I have this book and have used the information within it to rebuild and modify my Holley carb for off-road performance. There is no way I could have done it right without first reading this book. -- By Mike Urich & Bill Fisher |
Everything (and more) you ever wanted to know about Carter carburetors. This book covers the basics of Carburetor theory all the way to high-performance modification for racing applications. I plan to use some of the techniques in this book to rebuild an Edelbrock #1405 Performer to evaluate on my Bronco! -- By Dave Emanuel |
It is generally well known in the carburetor world that the Rochester Q-Jet 4brl carbs are the best carbs out there for 4-wheeling. I like to call them "The Cadillac of Carburetors". I used to race Buick & Oldsmobile engines with Q-Jet carbs and I can't tell you just how valuable this book was to me. If you plan on running a Q-Jet on your Ford (or any vehicle) then this book is a must have! -- By Doug Roe |
The Haynes Ford Automatic Transmission... Books on how to rebuild Automatic Transmissions are very hard to find. This is one of the few books I could find on rebuilding Ford transmissions. It covers the C3, C4, C5, C6 and some AOD transmissions. I wouldn't even try to rebuild my transmission without first reading this book. -- by Jeff Killingsworth & John Harold Haynes |
This was one of the best books on the market some years ago for the repair and maintenance of manual transmission clutches & flywheels. Unfortunately, the book is out-of-print. However, you can place an order for the book at Amazon and they will search their network of used book stores to try and locate a copy. They will not charge you for the order until they have located the book and sent you an e-mail for your approval to buy it. -- By Tom Monore. |

Contains tons of very useful information. -- By Des Hammill |
Ford Pick-Ups & Bronco Automotive Repair Manual 1973-1979 Like most Haynes repair manuals, this one is well written and covers most general maintenance and troubleshooting in detail for '73-'79 Ford Trucks. It's not as detailed as the factory service manuals, but it's a good supplement. I still refer to it when the information in the factory manuals is too vague or complex for the typical home mechanic. It's the only 3rd party repair manual you'll need for your Bronco. -- By John B. Raffa |
Chilton's Ford Pick-Up and Bronco Repair Manual 1976-1986 This manual is a must have for all 76-86 Full-Size Ford trucks, but especially so for 78-79 Broncos. I found this manual to be more comprehensive than the Haynes manual AND the Chilton's manual has vacuum & electrical diagrams too! Some of the info in the manual is incomplete, and in some cases not even correct, but for the most part it is a must have book. |
Performance Modifying Ford Trucks : For... Here's a book just for modifying Ford Trucks for performance. I have not read it yet, but it sounds very interesting. Covers performance modifications from mild to wild and from street & strip to off-road. I can't wait to read this one! -- By Richard Johnson |
Ford F-Series Pickup Owner's Bible : A... This book is a great reference for full-size Ford Truck owners. It contains the history of Ford Trucks, a buyers guide, tons of technical info, and a comprehensive performance section. My only complaint about this book is that the author basically blew off the 351M/400 engines as being useless and excluded them from the performance section. I guess he never took the time to build a "M" engine to see just how good they really are. Other than the "Anti-M" bias, it's a great book. -- By Moses Ludel |
Ford Pickup Trucks (Enthusiast Color) All I can say is that this book has 96 pages of some of the most beautiful Ford Trucks in existence. I think you'll be as surprised as I was at some of the rare trucks in this book. -- By Steve Statham |

I have only been reading Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine for about a year now, but I can say that I think it's a great 4x4 magazine. Every time I pick one up there is always something interesting to read in it, and they also seem to write more articles than most others for 78-79 Broncos. |
